Senior Pastor at The Fellowship

 

A) Scriptural Basis (In relationship to the scriptures, the…)

  1. Pastoral candidate must meet I Timothy 3:1-7 and Titus 1:6-9 qualifications
  2. Pastoral candidate should be recognized as a man of God, one who walks with God (Gen. 6:9; 17:1; I Cor. 11:1; James 2:23)
  3. Pastoral candidate should be an expository Bible teacher and preacher skilled at practical application (Romans 12:6-7; II Timothy 4:1-5; James 3:17-18)
  4. Pastoral candidate must be a man who feels the call of God to be a shepherd to the flock (Jer. 3:15; Acts 20:28; I Peter 1:1-4)

 

B) The Fellowship Values Basis (The pastoral candidate needs to…)

  1. Accept and embrace our Statement of Faith
  2. Demonstrate a heart for missions and evangelism
  3. Embrace and reach out to the local / surrounding community
  4. Be comfortable with and support the Fellowship’s “Consensus Process”
  5. Be accepting of shared leadership at the Fellowship; elders are like pastors (elder centric – not pulpit centric)
  6. Fit with current worship at the Fellowship – worship services are not planned by Pastor but by elders, who coordinate the worship emphasis with the message

 

C) Profile Basis (The pastoral candidate must exhibit…)

  1. A warm, relational, caring heart for people
  2. A gentle approach but able to correct
  3. An ability and track record of establishing healthy and growing relationships in Christ
  4. The ability / skill of maintaining a wide web or relationships both inside / outside the church
  5. An ability to use emotional intelligence in ways that draw from Jesus’s approach with people during his ministry
  6. A sensitivity and adeptness to relate to multi-generational needs and dynamics
  7. A desire to find the pulse and heartbeat of The Fellowship

 

D) Experience & Educational Basis (The candidate for senior pastor should have…)

  1. 10 years of experience either as an associate pastor at a large church and/or a comparable leadership role at a multi-staff church. Or, some combination of the two along with senior pastor experience; also may have directly related experience clearly indicating a senior pastor position is the logical career progression.
  2. A minimum of a college degree with Christian Training; Masters Degree; Seminary
  3. Been ordained or willing to be ordained
  4. A history / track record of leadership development
  5. Experience and success as a developer of people in using their spiritual gifts in ministry
  6. An adeptness of making and encouraging disciples
  7. A sound doctrinal understanding
